“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
― Jalaluddin Rumi
Hello!
A warm welcome to you.
I offer counselling to adults, both in person in London (Central London/Soho/London Bridge/Ealing) and/or online to those who prefer it or are based elsewhere. If you find yourself caught between different worlds or different identities, or caught in a period of transition in your life, then therapy can provide a confidential space to tend to these challenges. I strive to offer therapy that is culturally attuned and responsive.
I work with an intersectional lens - what happens in our lives and in our bodies due to the unique combination of all our social and personal identities (race, gender, class, sexuality, ability, nationality, religion, neurodiversity, etc.). My practice strives to be anti-oppressive, inclusive, trauma-informed, and rooted in healing justice.
Therapy can help us find a different perspective on life and its challenges, whether we are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, a major life transition, or feeling unfulfilled or stuck.
Some of the issues I work with:
* grief, loss & bereavement
* life transitions & crises
* anxiety & overwhelm
* self-esteem & identity
* low mood & depression
* relationship difficulties
* caregiver burnout
* parenting, pregnancy, motherhood
* illness & health
My approach is integrative, soulful, and relational. What this means is that I work intuitively, based on what you bring and what feels right for you, usually a combination of psychodynamic, humanistic, somatic, Jungian, and creative psychotherapy. I believe that therapy is about 'healing in relationship', so it is important first and foremost for us to build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. It is this relationship which creates the conditions for your story and any healing to unfold.
I firmly believe we are all equipped with everything we need in order to help ourselves. Therapy simply helps us get in touch with our own conscious and unconscious resources.
I come with a varied background, having worked and trained in many different contexts and countries. I hold a BSc in Psychology, MSc in Neuroscience, MA in Performing Arts, and a BACP and UKCP accredited qualification in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling. I have lived in India, the United States, Spain, and the UK. I work in a creative and embodied way, often using images, stories, movement, dreams, visualisation and somatic exercises to unlock what may otherwise be difficult to express.
My post-graduate research focused on evaluating drama-based therapies as a treatment for post-traumatic stress. I continue to have a passion for research alongside my counselling practice. I have a special interest in bereavement and grief counselling, and continue to support charities in this space.
Please do get in touch if you have been thinking about therapy. I offer short- term weekly sessions or longer term open-ended weekly sessions, depending on what you might need.
I also offer sessions in Hindi/Urdu for clients who feel more comfortable working in that language.
